What's More Likely?

Getting single payer health care? Or getting prosecutions for Bush administration war criminals?

If Obama made a televised address
and told the public that the national government has the same obligation to provide medical care for all Americans, just as it provides a military defense, a Coast Guard, postal service, a federal court system, the FBI, CIA, Veteran's Hospitals and so on.

If he reminded the public that our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness cannot be
realized if any of us are unable to afford to get well when we get sick and that our present healthcare system is too expensive and too cumbersome, and that the time has come for the U.S. to do something about it and the most effective, most economic solution is for the Congress to pass comprehensive American Healthcare System legislation, modeled on the
kind of healthcare systems that our
strongest allies around the world
have -- it could happen.

The public isn't stupid, they're just ignorant of the facts and of
the possibilities.

Obama's place in history would be secured and he would join FDR and LBJ as a President who saw suffering and tried to heal it.

Well, I agree... it's still not clear what the heck Obama is doing; not clear he is interested in doing the right thing at all.
